"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Psalm 147:3

A Message From Jacob...

Tragedy can strike any family at any given time of any day. My life and my family's and friends lives were rocked with the most devastating, heart breaking, life changing tragedy possible a few days before Christmas. On December 21, 2010, my healthy 29 year old wife, Jenni, and I checked into the hospital for the delivery of our first child. On what should have been the most wonderful day of our lives my beautiful wife died following the emergency birth of our daughter Amelia. Amelia was born mid-morning on December 22 and her mother passed away in the very early hours of December 23 from a rare embolism. Words do not exist to describe the pain and loss I feel. I loved Jenni for five years and was privileged to be married to her for eighteen months - I should have had at least another 30 years before I had to say goodbye to my true soul mate. But since that was not to be, I have to go on without my Jenni and raise our absolutely gorgeous Amelia the way Jenni and I had planned to do together.
Oh...why do we call Amelia Baby Butterfly? Throughout her pregnancy Jenni called our Amelia her little butterfly baby. Just can't let it go.

Don't take time for granted...love the special people in your lives as if each moment were your last together.

A New Benefit Coming Up!

Jacob and Jenni have played Motor City Trivia since May of 2009. They have appeared in every tournmanet they have ever held. MCT has always been a special time of fun for Jacob and Jenni and we invite everyone to come on out and support Jake and Amelia by participating in a special Jacob and Jenni themed trivia put on by Motor City Trivia, as well as an auction and raffles for tons of amazing gifts and prizes. Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to support a great family that needs your help! $10.00 donation to participate. If you don't want to participate in the Trivia, still come on out for the amazing items being raffled and auctioned and for a ton of fun. Hermann's has rockin' food, drinks, and a fun atmosphere that was a second "home" for Jacob and Jenni! We look forward to seeing you there!

A Note From Jacob:
I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am for so many heartfelt offers of support from others. Jenni and I always loved playing trivia. Motor City Trivia and Hermann's Olde Town Grille are totally awesome and have been incredible to Jenni and I. When I was told of the planning of a trivia benefit to help Amelia and I, I was beyond touched. Thank you just isn't enough, but I do thank you with all my heart for your love, concern, compassion and prayers.

With all the gratitude in the world,
Jacob Black

  2. Thank you so much Laurie! You are so kind. We treasure each and every prayer and all of the love sent to us by you and so many who we've never even met. I am Julie, Jacob's sister. My mom and I run this blog and I'll make sure that I pass your lovely message along to Jacob.

  3. Hi Julie, I just left your Mom a comment on her blog - we are blogging friends...I just wrapped up a Love Auction in the honor of Amelia. The bloggers that participated in the Love Auction helped us to reach $150! I was excited we did so well since I only had the post up for two weeks before closing it on 12/22, Amelia's birthday. A few people payed me by check, and a few have payed by PayPal. I'm going to make one lump payment to Amelia/Jacob. Do you think a personal check sent might not be the best? I know that PayPal takes a percentage out - What do you think? Merry Christmas!
