"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Psalm 147:3

A Message From Jacob...

Tragedy can strike any family at any given time of any day. My life and my family's and friends lives were rocked with the most devastating, heart breaking, life changing tragedy possible a few days before Christmas. On December 21, 2010, my healthy 29 year old wife, Jenni, and I checked into the hospital for the delivery of our first child. On what should have been the most wonderful day of our lives my beautiful wife died following the emergency birth of our daughter Amelia. Amelia was born mid-morning on December 22 and her mother passed away in the very early hours of December 23 from a rare embolism. Words do not exist to describe the pain and loss I feel. I loved Jenni for five years and was privileged to be married to her for eighteen months - I should have had at least another 30 years before I had to say goodbye to my true soul mate. But since that was not to be, I have to go on without my Jenni and raise our absolutely gorgeous Amelia the way Jenni and I had planned to do together.
Oh...why do we call Amelia Baby Butterfly? Throughout her pregnancy Jenni called our Amelia her little butterfly baby. Just can't let it go.

Don't take time for granted...love the special people in your lives as if each moment were your last together.

A New Benefit Coming Up!

Jacob and Jenni have played Motor City Trivia since May of 2009. They have appeared in every tournmanet they have ever held. MCT has always been a special time of fun for Jacob and Jenni and we invite everyone to come on out and support Jake and Amelia by participating in a special Jacob and Jenni themed trivia put on by Motor City Trivia, as well as an auction and raffles for tons of amazing gifts and prizes. Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to support a great family that needs your help! $10.00 donation to participate. If you don't want to participate in the Trivia, still come on out for the amazing items being raffled and auctioned and for a ton of fun. Hermann's has rockin' food, drinks, and a fun atmosphere that was a second "home" for Jacob and Jenni! We look forward to seeing you there!

Plymouth, MI 48170

A Note From Jacob:
I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am for so many heartfelt offers of support from others. Jenni and I always loved playing trivia. Motor City Trivia and Hermann's Olde Town Grille are totally awesome and have been incredible to Jenni and I. When I was told of the planning of a trivia benefit to help Amelia and I, I was beyond touched. Thank you just isn't enough, but I do thank you with all my heart for your love, concern, compassion and prayers.

With all the gratitude in the world,
Jacob Black

Amelia Robin-Sue

Amelia Robin-Sue was born on December 22, 2010 and her wonderful mother, Jenni, went home to Heaven on December 23, 2010. A Paypal button can be found on the right sidebar. When you click on the button, you will be taken to a page to specify the amount you would like to gift to Amelia. After typing in the amount, click on "update total." You will then be taken to a page to log into Paypal and complete the transaction. If you don't have a Paypal account, it is quick and easy to set one up at Paypal.com.

3. Attend one of the upcoming benefits. I will post them on this blog as plans are finalized for each one:

Location:
Plymouth ROC (formerly Boulders)
1020 Ann Arbor Road
Plymouth, MI 48170

Date and Time:
Saturday, January 8 at 3:00pm - January 9 at 2:00am

Please join us for a benefit in honor of a beautiful and amazing woman, Jen Bourque-Black, who we devastatingly lost while she was giving birth just a few days before Christmas. Her adorable little girl is only a week old, and as we all know, it takes a village to raise a child. Please come out and help support our dear friend and new dad, Jacob Black, and our newest little villager, Amelia Robin-Sue.

Plymouth ROC is generously donating 20% of everyone's food/drink tab to Amelia's Memorial Fund beginning at 3:00pm. Beginning at 8:00pm, there will be a $7 cover fee, much of which will go directly into Amelia's Memorial Fund. Also beginning at 8:00pm, there will be great live music featuring Image Altered, 50/50 drawings and drink specials all night long. There will also be a chance to win a 7-night vacation with 100% of the proceeds being donated directly to the Amelia Bourque-Black Memorial Fund. This event is only a week away so mark your calendars, pass the word along and bring your friends! You can also repost this on your facebook page, blog, or email to let everyone on your friends list know about the benefit and stay informed on the upcoming events.

Thank you again for your support and generosity!
